This is the way digital marketing entrepreneurs get be paid by a commission or referral fee from the supplier, typically by percentage or flat rate!  

Consider this analogy for a visual understanding.

A billboard on the highway offers a car passing by a visual advertisement of an upcoming fuel station. Information on the billboard offers the promise of price on fuel, restrooms, and even more inviting is probably the picture of a delightfully mouthwatering sandwich meal and drink that directs a percentage of each passing vehicles to stop and consume all the amenities!
